Coimbatore : The Aravakurichi Police on Tuesday filed a complaint against actor-politician Kamal Haasan for his controversial "free India's first extremist was a Hindu" remarks referring to Nathuram Godse, after BJP demanded to arrest him and cancel his party's registration.
Coimbatore : The Aravakurichi Police on Tuesday filed a complaint against actor-politician Kamal Haasan for his controversial "free India's first extremist was a Hindu" remarks referring to Nathuram Godse, after BJP demanded to arrest him and cancel his party's registration.
Retorting to the accusations, Makkal Needhi Maiam's, Vice President, Dr. Mahendran in a statement has said that Kamal's speech has been taken out of context and portrayed as anti-hindu. In order to ensure a neutral and fair position on this,bthe media should play the entire speech of Mr. Kamal Haasan so that the speech is understood in the right context by the people and the malicious intent of certain groups is called out.
"Makkal Needhi Maiam believes that at the desire of certain political groups, the speech of our party President Mr. Kamal Haasan at Aravakurichi has been taken completely out of context with a malafide intent and view to promote enmity amongst people and for the ulterior benefits of such groups", the release noted.
The release also stated that, Kamal Haasan was calling for religious tolerance and co-existence among all religious groups. He condemns extremism in any form and religion.
The statement also pointed out that, Makkal Needhi Maiam stands for harmony across all sections and people and continue to raise voice its opinion in this regards.
